WHAT WE ARE LEARNING

Language Arts- Mrs. Phelps

This week we will be writing I Am Poems. Students have been learning about figurative language through poetry and now they will have the opportunity to write their own. I am really excited to see how these turn out!

Below are some pictures from our field trip to the Muhammad Ali Center. We had a great time! I wasn't with all groups and still need to get more pictures from other chaperones, so stay tuned for those.

Homework: Final literature circles- Read and job sheet due Friday- Hooray for reading another book!!!!

Math: Mrs. Bennett

This week in math class, we will wrap up our school year! Students are going to write letters to their future self and as well as fill out some information about themselves. We will create a time capsule with their papers and bury it in their courtyard! When students are 8th graders, they will dig up their time capsule on the last day of school and read their letters!

Homework:

No homework!

Summer Recommendations:

*I highly recommend finishing the Simple Solutions book over the summer! We got to lesson #116, but there are 140 lessons. You could utilize these additional lessons to help review before 6th grade. I also recommend the Summer Solutions book. The link to orders the book is below. Please buy for the grade your child just completed and the Standards Based version.

Social Studies: Mrs. Crush

Our last week together, students will be sharing one part of their Central and South America Country projects.

Religion: Mrs. Crush

We will complete Chapter 21, "Jesus' Resurrection and Ascension," in our Word of Life workbooks.  In this chapter, students will learn that Jesus first appeared to Mary Magdalene following His Resurrection, that the Easter Vigil is the most solemn liturgy of the liturgical year, come to know the four parts of the Easter Vigil and the symbols and actions contained therein, and learn that Mary Magdalene models for us an example of evangelization that we are called to imitate in our lives.

Ch. 21 Open Book Assignment on Monday, May 20

Items Needed:

The students created jobs that they will be completing each week. Based on the job description, they will earn points on Class Dojo.
