Language Arts- Mrs. Phelps

This week the class will turn in their persuasive paragraph for their adoptable dog poster. After I proofread, they will complete the final draft (handwritten or typed). They will have a template to use, assigned to them on Google Classroom, if they are typing to ensure everything will fit. I have attached the slides for the project below and you can find the rubric on there as well. The projected due date for this is Friday. As the end of the week grows closer, I will adjust if I feel they need more time. I will provide ample class time for them to work on this and the goal is that they do not actually need to work on it at home. I highly encourage creativity when it comes to the artistic part of creating the poster. This may be something they MAY choose to do at home with their own art supplies but I will make what I have available to them!

**A note: This will not be any larger than a 11 X 17 sheet of paper

Morphology: We will learn the suffix -ing, which means "happening now or action of". This is a very commonly used suffix in reading and writing. Adding it to some words can be tricky, so we will discuss the spelling rules of adding a vowel suffix like -ing (vowel suffix=suffix that begins with a vowel).

Homework: Adoptable Dog Poster due Friday (unless adjusted as needed)

Adoptable Pet Project

Math-Mrs. Bennett

This week in Math class we will continue to relate fractions and whole numbers by expressing whole numbers as fractions and recognizing fractions that are equivalent to whole numbers. Students will use manipulatives such as pattern blocks, fraction bars, and fraction circles to help visualize how fractions can be equivalent to whole numbers. Students will learn when a fraction is considered improper and proper. Some students are progressing to work on generating equivalent fractions with models and using multiplication.

Social Studies- Mrs. Crush

In Social Studies, the students will continue our Economics Unit. This unit focuses on the basics of economics and the free enterprise system in the U.S. The students will learn about money, business, and entrepreneurs. This week, we will be launching the simulation, "We are going to pretend that it is the future and we are all living on a small planet that is similar to Earth called "Futura."

Stations of the Cross

On Fridays during Lent, the students participate in a call and response Stations of the Cross. With them going in the mornings, they are also fortunate to be in the church during Adoration. We spend a few minutes at the end in silence to pray and listen to Jesus.

Religion- Mrs. Crush

We are continuing our Saints Madness tournament! During each class, the students learn and watch the students' iMovies of at most eight saints and then answer questions about the saints.
