WHAT WE ARE LEARNING

LA: MRS. PHELPS

This week we will begin using a graphic organizer to plan out our opinion articles about the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. Students will use information they have researched from various sources to support their opinions. Our focus this week will be on introduction paragraphs and various types of hooks authors use to grab the attention of a reader. They will begin to come up with their reasons they believe people should be informed about the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. We are in the early drafting stages, therefore, this writing project will take us some time and there is potential students will have homework to complete certain portions of their writing- you will get plenty of notice before this happens!

In Morphology, we will be adding the new Latin base "form" to our Morphology wall. Form means "to shape" and can be found in many common words we use, for example, uniform, formula, and transform.

We will have 5 vocabulary words this week. Be sure to study and utilize the slides that will be posted on Google Classroom Tuesday.

Homework: Vocab quiz on Friday! This will include our new Latin base "form"

**Thank you to everyone who donated index cards! I really appreciate your generosity!

MATH: MRS. BENNETT

This week in Math class, we are working on using division to solve multiplicative comparison scenarios. Students will learn how to write a multiplication and division equation for the same scenario to practice inverse operations. Students will write equations with letters for the unknown values to model and solve multiplicative comparison problems. Students will begin to solve real-world scenarios and multi-step word problems.

They will continue working on these this week

RELIGION: MRS CRUSH

With October being the Month of the Rosary, students will have the opportunity to pray the Rosary altogether as a class. We will also describe and name the parts of the Rosary and the mysteries of the Rosary.  Last week we focused on the Sorrowful and Glorious Mysteries and this upcoming week we are going to focus on the Luminous Mysteries.
