WHAT WE ARE LEARNING

LA: MRS. PHELPS

This week students will be expected to have their first draft of their opinion pieces completed by Friday. We will still dedicate class time to this. However, some students are further ahead of others, therefore; some students may have homework while others do not. Students have had AMPLE class time in the previous weeks to work on this and if they haven't begun their body paragraphs, perhaps they have not been using their class time appropriately.

In Morphology, we will be adding 1 new suffix (-er/-or meaning one who or that which). For example, a teacher is "one who teaches" and a painter is "one who paints".

Our vocabulary words this week will come from the Profile of a Graduate as students are working on a piece that will uploaded into one or more of their folders. They will be posted on Google Classroom on Tuesday.

Homework:

The cereal drive was a huge success!

A big thanks to everyone who donated cereal to the Dare to Care Cereal Drive. Our class donated 95 boxes total! The cereal box domino event was a huge success and was featured on WDRB news! Our school brought in a total of 789 boxes in all. Thank you again for all your support!

MATH: MRS. BENNETT

This week in Math class we are starting a Project Based Learning activity. We will discuss how math is represented in nature specifically snowflakes and constellations.  We will look at how constellations are made up of lines and angles. Students will read a few myths on constellations such as Draco, Hercules, Scorpio, and more. Then students will be challenged to design their own constellation that represents their name using a coordinate grid. Students will measure the angles represented in their designs using a protractor as well as the length of each line to the nearest quarter inch.

*I have been updating my Google Site recently. If you go to the "Math Resource" tab, I have added help videos for different math skills. These videos are made by me, so you can see exactly how I am teaching a skill in class. Please check these out and use them as needed. I will be adding new videos throughout the year!*

Homework:

11/27 SS #53

11/28 SS #54

11/29 SS #55

11/30 SS #56

12/1 SS Quiz #14

Here are some questions you can ask your student at home:

SOCIAL STUDIES: MRS. CRUSH

We will continue our unit of Geography of the United States. Students will focus on the Southeast Region.  They will learn about the land, climate, waterways, and landmarks in the Southeast.  Students will have a similar landmark project as they did for the Southeast region. We will be completing their presentations this week. We will then take a break from our United States regions and work on our Kentucky Counties Project. This is a research project the students will be working on in both Technology and Social Studies throughout the school year.

RELIGION: MRS CRUSH

We will complete Chapter 3, "The Life of Virtue," in our Word of Life workbooks. The students will know that natural law leads to earthly happiness, whereas the revealed law leads to eternal law, begin to understand that Jesus fully reveals God and His laws, understand that to be virtuous persons of character, they must form their consciences, and be able to distinguish the cardinal moral virtues from the theological virtues.

Ch. 3 Test is on Friday, December 1 (pages 27-38). (Updated Date)
