WHAT WE ARE LEARNING
Language Arts- Mrs. Phelps
This week we will be taking the reading MAP test during Language Arts. This takes up about half of our class time everyday and the rest will be spent in small groups where we are learning important spelling rules. During our short week last week, we focused on commonly confused homophones (there/their/they're and to/too/two).
No vocabulary or new morphology concept this week!
Homework: None!
Math: Mrs. Bennett
This week in math class, students are working through the chapter- Classify 2-Dimensional Figures. Students are exploring the different ways to classify and organize shapes. Students will realize polygons can be classified by the number of sides, the length of their sides, the types of lines (parallel), and the types of angles. Students will use a Venn Diagram to compare and constrast shapes characteristics. We will then focus on the different types of triangles. Students will identify when a triangle is equilateral, isosceles, and scalene, right, obtuse, and acute.
*With several short weeks and a long break, some students have worked ahead and some have fallen behind in their lessons. This is not a big deal! If you child has not complete lesson #64, they are excused and can skip it. This will ensure all students 3-5 are on the same lesson. Thank you!*
1/8- SS #65
1/9- SS #66
1/10- SS #67
1/11- SS #68
1/12- SS Quiz
Here are some example questions you can ask your student:
Social Studies: Mrs. Crush
On Friday, the students chose different historical topics and people that they will research and present in both Social Studies and Technology. Researching these topics will allow the students to teach their classmates and learn the importance of these events or people throughout our history. We will be working on these projects the next couple of weeks.

Religion: Mrs. Crush
Last week, we completed our unit on the Liturgical season of Christmas. This week, the students will begin Chapter 5, "God Enters Time and Space," in our Word of Life workbooks. The students will come to know the significance of the circumstances in which Jesus was born, learn that the purpose of the Incarnation of Jesus was to make it possible for man to become more like God through grace, come to know that God takes earthly ordinary signs, symbols, and actions, and sanctifies them and works through them, and learn that through graces received through the sacraments, we receive capacities.
Tentative Ch.5 Test on Tuesday, January 23.
