WHAT WE ARE LEARNING

Language Arts- Mrs. Phelps

This week, we are reading various books on similar topics that have common themes. We will be getting practice summarizing stories, identifying theme and providing evidence, determining cause and effect relationships, and comparing and contrasting the themes with one another. We are doing ALL THE THINGS with 2-3 really great texts! We are going to be exposed to a lot of rich vocabulary and will be discussing how to use context to determine meaning, but we will not have a vocabulary quiz.

Homework: Read assigned pages from novel and complete job sheet for THURSDAY (books were given out on Friday, March 22nd).

Math: Mrs. Bennett

Welcome Back! I hope everyone had a lovely Spring Break! We will get back into routine this week and continue to work on multiplying fractions. Students will focus on multiplying a whole number by a mixed number. We will use real-world scenarios to provide context and pattern blocks to visualize what multiple groups of a fractional amount looks like. We will progress to the final stage which is a mixed number multiplied by a mixed number. Students will work with manipulatives at first, but then progress to the standard algorithm.

We will be finishing up our chapter on Multiplying Fractions and will be ready to take a test in the next week to so. MAP testing begins next week, so the test will tentatively be the week of 4/22 - 4/26.

Homework:

Students need to complete two IXL's from their Math Skill Plan to 100%. Students will be given class time to work on their IXL's and can always come ask for support if they are having trouble with the skills on their plan! Both Math IXL's will be due Friday 4/12.

Social Studies: Mrs. Crush
