Math-Mrs. Bennett

This week in Math class, we are starting the next chapter - Understand Division. Students are exploring with division by reading a story called, "The Door Bell Rang." Students are using mini cookies to act out each part of the story. The cookies are split equally amoung more and more children that come over to play! As students model the splitting of the cookies, they will also record the action using numbers in an equation. Students are learning how to use information in a division problem to find the number of groups or the number in each group.

Social Studies- Mrs. Crush

In Social Studies, the students will begin their Presidents Project. This project will be completed in both Social Studies and Technology, along with Writing. Each student has been assigned a president, they will research, and learn about the president. When gathering research, the students will create a Google Slide and eventually present those during class. Also, the students will write an autobiography for their presidents using the information that they gathered. Similar to Christmas Around the World, the students will be dressing up as their presidents and sharing their story with students and parents. Date for this is TBD

Religion- Mrs. Crush

The week we returned from Christmas Break, the students learned about the liturgical season of Christmas. We focused on different Christmas symbols we see and their meanings. This week, we will begin Chapter 5, "God's Promise of a Savior," in our Word of Life workbooks. The students will recall that the Father of Lies deceived Adam and Eve, so they chose to disobey God, know that through Original Sin, Adam and Eve lost original holiness and original justice, begin to understand that concupiscence makes it very hard to avoid sin without God's grace, know that Original Sin causes an infinite chasm in our relationship with God and one another, and know that God promised to send us a Savior because we cannot heal our relationshop with God on our own.
