Items Needed:

The students created jobs that they will be completing each week. Based on the job description, they will earn points on Class Dojo. Each Friday, the students will have the opportunity to turn in their points to purchase a variety of items. If you are able, please send in an item or two listed below.

WHAT WE ARE LEARNING

Important Note for LA:

In an effort to help students come better prepared for class, I am providing a list of materials they are expected to bring to LA class everyday:

If students do not bring these items to class, they will now have to write their own name on the board. I am hoping this encourages them to better prepare for class and eliminate class disruptions for myself and Mrs. Bennett.

Language Arts- Mrs. Phelps

This week we are really focused on writing our opinion pieces on the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. Students will be working on writing 5 different types of hooks to grab the attention of the reader, draft their introduction paragraph and begin their first body paragraph. Students will choose the hook they like the best as the beginning of their writing piece and build upon it from there. I am going to be taking a completion grade for the draft of their hooks, introduction paragraph and 1st body paragraph which must be complete by class Friday (assuming we get this far).

In Morphology, we will be adding 5 NEW GREEK BASES (graph, gram, phon, photo, tele). These are the first of the Greek bases we will be learning and they are taught in groups. Since we typically only learn 1-2 new morphemes, I am considering these their vocabulary words for the week. They will still have flash cards and slides to use for studying but the quiz will look different. I will use class time this week to prepare them so they know what to expect.

Homework:

Math: Mrs. Bennett

This week in Math class we are starting our next chapter - Decimal Place Value. Students will use their knowledge of fractions and place value to describe the relationship between two decimal place-value positions to the thousandths place. Students will also learn how to read and write decimals in different forms- expanded form, word form, and standard form.

Homework:

11/6- SS #45

11/7- SS #46

11/8- SS #47

11/9- SS #48

 11/10- No Quiz

Social Studies: Mrs. Crush

We will continue our unit on the Aztec Empire. Each student has been assigned a topic to research and become an expert. The following categories they will become experts are Aztec Daily Life, Aztec Government and Empire, Aztec Gods and Mythology, Aztec Society, Tenochtilan, Spanish Conquest, Aztec Art, and Hernan Cortes. They will be responsible to research answer questions and create a presentation with another classmate. This will be completed during our class time. If students are unable to finish in class, they will be asked to complete for homework.

Religion: Mrs. Crush

We will continue Chapter 4, "The Word of God Made Present among Us," in our Word of Life workbooks. In this chapter, the students will come to know how God worked in the Visitation of Mary to Elizabeth, that God instructed His people to build the Ark of the Covenant, through which He was present to them, know the similarities between God's presence in the Ark of the Covenant and the Word of God taking flesh and dwelling among us, and learn that through God's grace, Mary is the new Ark of the Covenant.  About a week ago, we visited the church to see our own Tabernacle and to see how much different is was to the tabernacle in the Old Testament.
