Language Arts- Mrs. Phelps

We have a 4 day week due to our Monday field trip to My Old Kentucky Home. Our learning will be centered on Earth Day, which is April 22nd. We will read fiction and non-fiction texts on the topic and hopefully come away with some inspiration to take care of the earth God gave us and work on comprehension skills as well.

Grammar: Each week, our morning work will be focused on a different part of speech. Last week, we practiced identifying conjunctions and knowing when to use specific ones. This week we focus on interjections.

Homework: No homework (20 minutes of independent reading is ALWAYS encouraged)

Math-Mrs. Bennett

Welcome Back! This week we will be getting back into routine and  working on how to Identify, name, and represent fractions greater than 1 and write a fraction greater than 1 as a mixed number. Students will look at real life examples of mixed numbers, like in measurement. Students will focus on using a ruler to measure length to the nearest half or fourth of an inch.

We will be finishing up our chapter on Fractions as Numbers and will be ready to take a test in the next week to so. MAP testing begins next week, so the test will tentatively be the week of 4/22 - 4/26.

Homework:

Students need to complete two IXL's from their Math Skill Plan to 100%. Students will be given class time to work on their IXL's and can always come ask for support if they are having trouble with the skills on their plan! Both Math IXL's will be due Friday 4/12.

Social Studies- Mrs. Crush

In Social Studies, the students will begin part 2: "The Free Enterprise System." In part 2, the students will act as both producers and consumers. They will work in small groups to create a company, produce a product, and manage a store. They will also get to shop at the other stores created. Afterward, the "companies" will reflect on their product and profit.

Religion- Mrs. Crush

We are completing our Saints Madness tournament! During each class, the students learn and watch the students' iMovies of at most eight saints and then answer questions about the saints.

Science- Ms. Jackel

World Language- Mrs.. Dunlap

On Saturday, my son, Garnett, and I went to Louisville Metro Animal Shelter to drop off our persuasive writing posters in hopes to help some homeless dogs find their forever homes!

Some posters were hung while I was still at the shelter and I was able to take pictures. Other dogs were currently in foster homes. I chose to make my example poster for a dog named Olive and while I was there, she was adopted!!!
