Language Arts- Mrs. Phelps

Thank you to all families for attending Parent-Teacher-Student conferences this past week! It was great to get you caught up on your child's progress and touch base about how they are doing!

This week we are diving deep into Because of Winn Dixie. We will focus on answering questions and using evidence from the text to support our answers. We are also discussing specific vocabulary words from the text and using context to determine their meaning.  Opal (the main character) is learning a lot of important life lessons from the people she is meeting and I enjoy talking to the class about the possible themes of the story.

Morphology:  We will have a comprehensive morphology quiz on February 23rd. This is the last day of the trimester. Students should use their morphology cards on the ring and their morpheme chart in their notebook to study. I will make it as simple as I can and it will more than likely be done using google forms.

Homework: Read p. 98-127 of Because of Winn Dixie and complete job sheet for literature circle meetings on FRIDAY
