Language Arts- Mrs. Phelps

This week we will be spending the majority of our time preparing for PTS conferences that will take place on Wednesday and Thursday. Students will be completing self evaluations and setting goals for themselves in the areas of work habits, social skills, as well as MAP testing. They will present this to you on conference day. I believe it is so important for students to not only take accountability for their success in school but this is also a great opportunity to activate their growth mindset and prepare them for the rest of the year!

Considering this is a short week and we are preparing for conferences, we will not have as much class time to dedicate to vocabulary words, therefore, we will not have a vocab quiz. I still encourage students to be reading at home nightly, as well all know, the more we practice something, the easier it will become!

In Morphology, we will not learn a new concept but we will be adding a few more prefixes and suffixes to our review card stack. The more morphemes we add, the further we can dive into morphology and the more word sums we will be able to create. See the image to the left for an example of what that looks like!

Enjoy your Fall Break!!!

Homework: No vocab this week!

Math-Mrs. Bennett

This week in Math class, students will work on solving real-world scenarios with area. Students will also learn how to find a missing side length when they are given the area and the length.

In addition, students will look at the Fall MAP scores and identify what category is an area for growth and which category is an area of strength. We will also set some goals for the Winter MAP test!

Religion- Mrs. Crush

On Friday, we learned about Saint Therese of Liseiux, our Saint of the Month. We discussed as a class how her nickname was "The Little Flower." After discussing and watching a short film about Saint Therese, the students were asked to choose a flower/plant that they would be and why.  ***See below of images of the student's work. Many of them were very thoughtful in their choosing and reasoning.

With October being the Month of the Rosary, students will have the opportunity to pray the Rosary altogether as a class. We will also describe and name the parts of the Rosary and the mysteries of the Rosary.

HW: Student Led Prayer 3 due Wednesday, October 11. *Students have been given some class time to begin their Student Led Prayers.
