WHAT WE ARE LEARNING

LA: MRS. PHELPS

This week students will continue working on creating our own list of character traits to describe ourselves for the art projects started with Mrs. Smith. If you can think of good words to describe your child, please share those with them! We are also going to dig deep into the many possible themes of the book. We have learned that a theme (or central message) is often the moral lesson the reader takes away from reading the text. We will use text evidence to support our ideas.

Morphology:  This week we will learn one suffix -ly, meaning "like or manner of" (adverb/adjective). Key words include: friendly, softly, sadly

Homework: Finish reading Wonder and complete job sheet for our FINAL literature circle meeting on Friday.

MATH: MRS. BENNETT

This week in Math class we will continue to work on using the standard algorithm (long division) to solve a 4 digit number divided by a 1-digit number. Students will begin to work with equations that have a 0 in the quotient and how to record those steps. Some students will begin to work on interpreting remainders based on the context of the quesiton. We will learn how to turn a reminder into a fraction or times when you need to add one more to your quotient.

Homework:

3/4- SS #97

3/5- SS #98

3/6 -SS #99

3/7- SS #100!

3/8- SS Quiz

The above problem requires students to turn the remainder into a fraction!

The above scenario requires students to add one more to the quotient!

SOCIAL STUDIES: MRS. CRUSH

Students will continue their Midwest Landmark projects. It will be slightly different that the first two landmark projects as I want to also continue our Kentucky counties research project.
