Make - Up Work Policy:
When you miss school, you are expected to:
Late Work Policy:
* For in-class work and independent work, you must have the work done on time or it will be scored as a zero.
* For Embedded Assessments, you must clear two hurdles to earn full credit: 1) your work must be printed and handed in before or by deadline, and 2) your work must
fulfill the requirements of the Assessment, as outlined by the assignment's details.
* A timeliness score equal to 10% of your assessment will be entered into PowerSchool on the assessment's due date, at the beginning of class. Work turned in on time
will earn 100%. Late work will earn a 0 that is not able to be rescinded. The timeliness score is categorized as an Academic Initiative score.
Retake Policy
Students are required to make-up failing assessments, including tests, essays, and summative assessments. The scores will be averaged. The teacher may decide how many improvements will be allowed. Teachers will direct where and when retakes will occur.

Change to my Timeliness Policy: December 7, 2016
Dear ______________________________________ and your Parent/Guardian:
Effective immediately, I will be changing my timeliness policy to reflect the results of a survey I just conducted of twenty professors and twenty business owners. The abbreviated version of the reason for my changing my timeliness policy is that it will now be more in line with what professors and local business owners expect from high school graduates.
A more comprehensive report about the surveys, their results, and how the results are being applied to work in my classroom will be handed to students, as well as available on my class web site, before Winter Break.
For the time being, the new policy on timeliness is:
I will not accept late work for low-stakes assignments (QuickWrites, non-Assessment writing prompts, progress checks, online grammar work, etc.).
I will accept late work for high-stakes assignments, such as Embedded Assessments. A timeliness score will also be attached to these high-stakes assignments, which will either be 100 for “on time” or 0 for “not on time.”
