Hey there all... The RA is pretty annoying today, so I'll be taking a "down" day to get it to calm down.
I'm going to have you start watching The Crucible. This is the film version of the play that Arthur Miller wrote in reaction to his being asked by a film producer to change his play to be anti-communist. In other words, because of The Red Scare and fear of Communism, Miller was asked to change his art, not allowing him to exercise his First Amendment rights to free expression.
As you watch the film, know that it is about what happens when truth isn't society's highest ideal; when fear becomes society's highest ideal, ugly things happen.
I've attached a character map, below. On your copies of the character map, see if you can determine who the truth tellers are and who the "drama spinners" are. Make notes and turn them in.
