This lesson plan has three tracks, depending on which small group you're in (the Independents, the Working with Miss Capens, or the Working with Mrs. Huishes)

The Independents - same lesson plan as Period 5

We:

• reviewed our rhetorical appeals: imagery, tone, theme, syntax, diction, writer's voice
  1. specifically, you needed to be able to 1) define these terms, and 2) apply these terms to Activity 1.7's literature (Eleven, Oranges, and the excerpt from Speak).
  2. If you cannot define these terms, use this Quizlet to study the terms and the Latin roots that are associated with them.

• handed in our 1.8 Graphic Organizers
• started discussing characterization as a rhetorical appeal and how characterization would help us with 1.10, Step 4 and 1.11. We discussed how we'd interview our characters and what sort of playlists we'd make for our choice novel's character.

Homework: Keep thinking about how you'd interview your character and what playlist you'd make for him/her
