We:
- pre-wrote by answering the following prompt: What is your definition of patriotism, including where/how you've experienced it?
- compared answers
- did some etymology with patriotism (patr = father, ism = doctrine, belief in an ideology)
- went over the QHTs for 1.2
- found out that there are TWO versions of the Springboard book out in circulation (unhappy face...)
- popcorn read 1.2
- had a brief discussion of the reading, in relation to our definitions of patriotism
- deconstructed the writing prompt for 1.2, on the bottom of page 7
- had a discussion about my expectations for writing prompts - evidence, full deconstruction, all aspects of the prompt answered, etc.
- checked homework from last time (not enough time for this in 2Green on 9/9, so we'll do this work on 9/11 - not everyone's work was checked on 9/9 in 4Green - still need to check the work for NG, SS, and LA)
Homework:
Writing prompt for 1.2 (use whichever John McCain essay is more appropriate for your topic - either from the newer version of the book or the older version of the book - 2Black: this is not relevant for you all)
