Please focus today's work on Activity 2.7 and becoming ready for the embedded assessment. Please keep track of all of your work in a Google Doc that you turn in at the end of class.
1) Fill in as many related words as you can on page 110 (I'll check this when I do book checks, next).
>>> Now you may cross reference my copy.
2) Look up the Latin meaning of hyster > What did you learn? What is your reaction to the root's meaning and the word's meaning in society? Do a QuickWrite about this, and put said QuickWrite in a Google Doc that you'll upload to an assignment "Classwork on March 16" on Google Classroom.
3) QHT "The Lessons of Salem," which you already read and annotated for homework. Now, do #4 on p. 111. Here is a template for double-entry journals. Same gig: open this template, then choose File > Make a Copy and update your own copy. There is an assignment spot for it on the Classroom. Please turn this work in there.
4) Listen to this audio recording of The Very Proper Gander, find a partner, and then do the Writing Prompt on the bottom of page 112. If time works out, I'll make you a quick exemplar before 3Green and 4Green so this won't seem as abstract. Add this to the same Google Doc that I mentioned, above.
(please listen to the audio file that I've attached, at the bottom of this page - VeryProperGander)
5) Consider what societal conflict you'll want to focus on for the embedded assessment, which we'll start working on tomorrow. Do some quick research on it, sticking to real news sites, based on the training we had on Real News / Fake News by Mrs. Ryder. Keep track of your sources in EasyBib. Please write me a quick note in your Google Doc about what societal conflict you think you'll focus on for the assessment.
