I'll be at a conference today.
NOTE: We'll finish up the 1.7 writing prompt **when I return**, as I'd like to be here to support you in writing it. :)
I believe you'll find today's sub plan quite do-able:
* research iconic American images to find one that you think best represents our country (definition of iconic is on page 40: to be famous and well-known - and believed to represent a particular idea. I'll make a separate page, here, to show you some iconic American images with labels about what the images represent. Research for as long as you need to find an image that you can present, through an online classroom environment.
Assignment due at the end of class: Save the image and where you found it into a GDoc and share it with me, please (title it period_name_1.8).
* do a quickwrite, either on paper or on GDoc, answering the question: What does it mean to be an American? Try to answer more than just the surface question. Dig deep and get into detail.
For the rest of the period, feel free to do Noredink, Khan Academy SAT Prep, or to have an open study hall.
