Students finished their 1.2 writing prompts, after conferencing with me. I had them check the three points I will absolutely be looking for when scoring their work (see image, below). We also went over my annotation and writing prompt scoring guide (here).

Next time we will begin the virtual immigration experience. As a way of activating prior knowledge, I've asked students to answer this prompt:

Please write about your understanding of the American immigrant experience, in history. Connection to your own relatives would be great.
