had a re-do on homework checks from last time (supplies readied and 1.1's Essential Questions) [I still need to check HW for six of you - we'll check in on Thursday]
had a pair share about our lists of knowledge and skills for the upcoming Embedded Assessment
were lucky to have M and B help us by creating a poster of our agreed upon knowledge and skills so we can reference it later
wrote to an unanticipated prompt: What does it mean to be an American? > file this is the Formative Assessments section of your binders
were able to start on the literary terms part of the homework
Next time:
complete a re-teach for those who did not have at least an 80% comprehension of the academic vocabulary quiz from 9-5-14
those who were part of the re-teach may improve their quizzes at home: again, the quiz must be examples of each term with an explanation of why the example shows the term. The explanation, if done correctly, will show that you've applied the definition of the term to think of the example. Such as, the "I Have a Dream" speech by D.r King is a primary source because he not only wrote it, but he also delivered it. (Writing and delivering a speech that is your own is definitely first-hand knowledge)
Homework:
write down the literary terms on page 2 in the vocabulary sections of your notebooks
research the definitions in the glossary at the back of your Springboard book and transfer them to your notebook's vocab section
do the same with any of the Qs or Hs from Activity 1.2 - use any credible source you want to do this research. Please limit yourself to 10.
