There are two vocab exams that they have to complete. I have placed these on my desk.
The last part of my exam is a prompt that they have on my website. I have copied it here for you.
American Dream motivation writing prompt.
Explain your own version of The American Dream with specific details. We will want to know more than "I want to be happy." What will make you happy? A house, a family, a stable job? How will make these dreams a reality?
Next, choose a minimum of three pieces of literature, art, film, drama and/or music (or an aphorism) that will help you stay committed to your version of The American Dream. Please present to the class what specific aspect of the literature / art / film / theater production / song / aphorism you can picture using as a motivator on days when you are not feeling inspired to be a productive member of society. Your presentation should answer the question: "How does this motivator connect to (student's) version of The American Dream?"
Please have the students write these via GDocs or on paper. If they write on GDocs, they should share with me. Paper should be left in the correct class’s collection box.
Thanks for everything!
