discussed the prompt: "What is 'character,' in terms of a person’s personality? Why is it important in their lives?"
discovered that this prompt was fairly abstract for some students but not for others
broke into two groups: external processors (i.e., those who need to talk ideas out) and internal processors (i.e., those who need relative quiet to consider and formulate ideas)
broke the prompt down and then wrote to it, depending on the group - we externals talked a lot and the internals wrote (I later challenged them to make lists of their own characteristics - those they admire and those they don't admire as much)
shared the writing of the internals
> the externals were really impressed! :)
shared positive characteristics of each other with one another, after I gave a demonstration of how to do it by making an educated guess about C.H. after only knowing this student for 40ish minutes
Homework:
finish writing to the prompt (in yellow, above)
make your list of characteristics: those you do and do not admire in yourself
