Week 9 - October 31 - November 3
Monday
Learning Target - Students will analyze "The Yellow Wallpaper" for theme and symbolism as we listen to the story in class.
Classroom Activities - Listen to the story and discuss examples of theme and symbol in it.
Homework - Write a short literary analysis of "The Yellow Wallpaper" analyzing one key theme.
Evidence of Learning - Students will share their understanding of theme and symbolism through individual questions asked during class and through their homework assignment.
Tuesday - Parent / Teacher conferences 4-8
Learning Target - Students will watch the MTV Real Life "I'm a College Freshmen" episode as a way of brainstorming ways to survive college.
Classroom Activities - Watch the short film and discuss it.
Homework - Text or contact 3 different people in college and ask them what is the most difficult thing they had to face in transitioning from high school to college.
Evidence of Learning - Students will meet the learning target via discussion and eventually crafting a rough draft of how to survive college.
Wednesday - LINC
Learning Target - Students will be able to share difficulties they (or their older peers) may face in college and brainstorm tactics to help them survive. Students will develop these into a three step how to rough draft for Monday.
Classroom Activities - Discussion and drafting time.
Homework - For Monday, have a 2-3 page rough draft of their how to essay ready to analyze.
Evidence of Learning - Students will illustrate what they have learned about how to survive college and how to construct a how to essay as well as use an effective introduction in a how to essay via their rough draft due on Monday.
Thursday and Friday
No School.
Thursday, Parent and Teacher conferences 8-8.
Friday, no school.
