Monday October 26
Learning Target - Analyze my first how to survive college draft (3.1) for an engaging intro and adequate support. Final discussion of topics for how to survive college. Introduction of the second rough draft of a how to paper (3.2). This one will be a how to paper of the student's choice. On Tuesday we will examine student drafts.
Homework - Tweak first draft of how to survive college.
Tuesday, October 27
Learning Target - Discuss topics for 3.2. Examine past papers for effectiveness and voice and style. Work time on 3.2.
Homework - Have a rough draft of 3.2 ready for Wednesday.
Wednesday, October 28
Learning Target - Share topics for 3.2 and read at least one paragraph to the class. Get feedback.
Homework - Develop either 3.1 or 3.2 for second draft, due on Thursday.
Thursday, October 29
Learning Target - Peer edit their second drafts of their how to essay.
Homework - develop 3.1 or 3.2 into a final draft, due at the start of class on Friday.
Friday, October 30
Learning Target - introduce students to their first novel research paper. Make sure students have their first novels selected by Monday. We will have a considerable amount of time to read next week and to begin annotating their books for their first major research paper.
Homework - assign "The Yellow Wallpaper" to be read over the weekend and to be listened to and discussed in depth on Monday and Tuesday. We will write a very short literary analysis based on this story to model the research process for their first major literary research paper.
