Monday (9.28)
Learning Target -
When I leave Mr. Reynolds room I will have written my second narrative snapshot moment and analyzed one mentor text, "A Girl Needs to Know How to Defend Herself" and analyzed it for snapshot moments and narrative elements.
Classroom Tasks -
* Read "A Girl Needs to Know . . ."
* Mini Lesson on connecting snapshots.
* Writer's Workshop - construct second snapshot and edit/revise first one.
Homework - Have second snapshot done for Tuesday.
Evidence -
The evidence will be shown when I individually assess their first snapshot moments and help them construct their second snapshot moments. These will eventually culminate in a rough draft narrative on a rite of passage.
Tuesday (9.29)

When I leave Mr. Reynolds room I will have written my third narrative snapshot moment and analyzed one mentor text, "Underwater" and analyzed it for snapshot moments and narrative elements.

* Mini Lesson on connecting snapshots and building narrative elements.
* Writer's Workshop - construct third snapshot and edit/revise first one.
Homework - Have third snapshot done for Wednesday.

The evidence will be shown when I individually assess their second snapshot moments and help them construct their third snapshot moments. These will eventually culminate in a rough draft narrative on a rite of passage.

Homework - Have rough draft of narrative done for Friday review.
Evidence -
The evidence will be shown when I individually assess their snapshots and how well they have connected them with narrative. This will culminate in a rough draft of a longer rite of passage narrative due on Friday.
Thursday (10.1)

* Read "Stand Up"
* Mini Lesson on showing instead of telling and avoiding the horrific "sum-it-all-up-at-the-end" conclusion.
* Writer's Workshop - connect snapshot moments with narrative.
Homework - Have second rough draft done for Friday.

* Share topics on poster boards around the room. Give feedback.
* Mini Lesson on revising narratives.
* Writer's Workshop - Fine tune Rite of Passage narrative. Introduce expertise narrative. Have two snapshot moments ready for Monday.
Homework - Two expertise snapshot moments ready on Monday.
Evidence -
The evidence will be shown when a student shares their rough draft for their rite of passage essay and then begin applying all that they learned to their second narrative on an expertise.
