Tuesday -
Intro to lit analysis theme
Learning Target - Students will be introduced to the concept of the Puritans, Nathaniel Hawthorne, and the devil as a symbol in American literature.
Classroom Activities - Lecture and discussion of "Young Goodman Brown"
Homework - Finish reading "YGB" and complete the guide.
Evidence of Learning - Students will illustrate their knowledge of the Puritans, Hawthorne, and the devil, as well as the basics of the short story on a quiz and discussion.
Wednesday - LINC
Listen to and take notes on "YGB"
Learning Target - Students will re-read "YGB" with a theme in mind. As we read, students will note examples of plot, character, and/or setting/symbolism.
Classroom Activities - Listen to "YGB"
Homework - Develop one supporting paragraph.
Evidence of Learning - Students will illustrate their understanding of theme by supporting their example of theme with an example of plot, character, and/or setting/symbolism.
Thursday -
Finish listening to and take notes on "YGB"
