Week 10 - November 7-11
Monday
Learning Target - Students will discuss and share their drafts for "How to Survive . . . College." Students will receive feedback from peers and me to improve their drafts.
Classroom Activities - Students will have time to compose and revise their first draft of "How to Survive . . . College."
Homework - Begin brainstorming ideas for a how to of their choice.
Evidence of Learning - Students will illustrate their understanding of writing a how to paper (an engaging introduction, effective use of transitions, use at least three steps, and adequately supporting each step).
Tuesday
Learning Target - Students will discuss ideas, topics, and strategies for their second how to draft. Students will be exposed to several other student examples.
Classroom Activities - Students will have time to work on developing their second how to draft. They can ask for feedback from me via Drive during class.
Homework - Develop a rough draft of their second how to for tomorrow.
Evidence of Learning - Students will illustrate their understanding of writing a how to paper (an engaging introduction, effective use of transitions, use at least three steps, and adequately supporting each step).
Wednesday - LINC
Learning Target - Students will discuss and share their drafts for "How to . . . of their choice." Students will receive feedback from peers and me to improve their drafts.
Classroom Activities - Students will have time to compose and revise their first draft of "How to . . . of their Choice." I will drop in via Drive and give them feedback.
Homework - Choose books for their final paper by Monday.

Thursday -
Learning Target - Students will be introduced to our third book, The Ghost Map, by Stephen Johnson via a Storify assignment and scavenger hunt.
Classroom Activities - Finish Storify and scavenger hunt.
Homework - Students will read the first chapter of The Ghost Map for Friday and complete the guide. Be ready for a quiz. Students will also bring in a how to rough draft to revise on Friday.
Evidence of Learning - Students will demonstrate their introduction to the events and key concepts of The Ghost Map by completing the Storify assignment and the scavenger hunt.
Friday
Learning Target - Students will revise their how to draft (either how to survive college or a how to of their choice) and students will demonstrate their understanding of the first chapter of The Ghost Map through a guiz and short discussion.
Classroom Activities - Students will have time to revise their rough draft and to discuss the events of the first chapter of The Ghost Map and to ask questions.
Homework - Choose books for their final paper by Monday. Read Ch. 2 of The Ghost Map. Students will also have a final draft of theme #3 done for Monday.
Evidence of Learning - Students will illustrate their understanding of writing a how to paper (an engaging introduction, effective use of transitions, use at least three steps, and adequately supporting each step) in their final draft of theme #3.
