Monday - March 27
Learning Target - Students will be introduced to essay 4.3 (a how to regarding their passion/hobby) and students will illustrate their abilities to craft an effective narrative as they develop essay 4.2 into a final draft.
Classroom Activities - Work on 4.2 and 4.3.
Homework - Develop 4.2 into a final draft and have a rough draft of 4.3 for Wednesday.
Evidence of Learning - Students will illustrate their understanding of writing a how to paper on 4.3 and their ability to craft an effective narrative on 4.2.
Tuesday - March 28
Learning Target - Students will continue to work on essay 4.3 (a how to regarding their passion/hobby).
Classroom Activities - Work on 4.3.
Homework - Develop 4.3 into a final draft for Wednesday.
Evidence of Learning - Students will illustrate their understanding of writing a how to paper on 4.3.
Wednesday - March 29 - LINC/Sub
Learning Target - Students will braid their 4.1, 4.2, and 4.3 essays together to form a 'braided essay,' due Friday.
Classroom Activities - Work on braiding their essay and complete the introductory assignment to The Ghost Map.
Homework - Develop theme #4 into a final draft for Friday.
Evidence of Learning - Students will illustrate all they learned about crafting an effective summary and developing specific snapshot moments in 4.1, developing an effective narrative in 4.2, and crafting a well-supported and organized how to essay in 4.3. Then students will illustrate their understanding of how to weave the essays together by braiding them together for Friday.
Thursday - March 30
Learning Target - Students will be introduced to Steven Johnson's The Ghost Map via a Keynote and opening discussion.
Classroom Activities - Lecture and slideshow on The Ghost Map.
Homework - Students will work on the introductory "Storify" assignment.
Evidence of Learning - Students will illustrate their comprehension of the key figures and events of the Broadstreet Pump and cholera via completing the Storify assignment.
Friday - March 31
Learning Target - Students will develop background knowledge via key concepts and figures related to The Ghost Map and also how the events of the cholera outbreak led to the modern world today via the "Clean" episode and assignment.
Classroom Activities - Students will define the terms they have been assigned and write a short paragraph explaining how they are all connected and relate to The Ghost Map.
Homework - Finish the "clean" assignment.
Evidence of Learning - Students will submit their "clean" assignment to show their understanding of the key events and figures of The Ghost Map as well as applying it to our modern world.
