Monday - March 7
Check for understanding for vital knowledge: What is the element? Why is it so important to find your element? How do we underestimate our true talents?
Learning Target -
Students will -
* have read the first three chapters of The Element and completed the reading guides.
* Take a quiz on Ch. 1-3.
* Students will be able to define 'the element' in their own words, explain why Robinson believes it's vital to find your element via citing one of the examples used in the first three chapters. Students will also be able to connect how the ideas relate to Caine's Arcade.
Classroom Tasks -
* Take a quiz on Ch. 1-3.
* Take notes on the key figures, ideas, and quotes from Ch. 1-3.
Homework -
* Read Ch. 4
* Complete the reading guide.

Tuesday - March 8
Check for understanding for vital knowledge: What does it mean to be "in the zone"? What does the "zone" and "flow" have to do with your element?
Learning Target -
Students will -
* have read ch. 4
* Watch a Keynote on Ch. 4 that illustrates the key figures, key terms and ideas, and then illustrates how they connect to modern examples.
Classroom Tasks -
* Watch and discuss Keynote introduction to Ch. 4.
Homework -
* Read Ch. 5 and complete the reading guides.
Evidence of Learning - Students will demonstrate their understanding of "flow" through discussion and their reading guides.
Wednesday - March 9
Check for understanding for vital knowledge: What is a "tribe"? Why is it important to find your tribe? How does being in a tribe connect with being in your element?
Learning Target -
Students will -
* read ch. 5 in class and complete the guide.
Classroom Tasks -
* read ch. 5 and complete the guide.
Homework -
* None
Evidence of Learning - Students will illustrate their understanding of what tribes are, why they are important, and how being in one helps you find your element through reading Ch. 5 and completing the guides.
Thursday - March 10
Check for understanding for vital knowledge: What barriers exist that keep people from their elements?
Learning Target -
Students will read Ch. 6 in class and complete the guide.
Classroom Tasks -
* Read Ch. 6 and complete the guide.
Homework -
* Finish Ch. 6
Evidence of Learning - Students will explain the three barriers that keep people from going after their elements.
Friday - March 11
Check for understanding for vital knowledge: Why are people in their elements considered to be luckier than others?
Learning Target -
Students will - focus on the concept of luck as it relates to The Element.
Students will have a rough draft of theme #4 (how to)
Classroom Tasks -
* Take a quiz on Ch. 5 and 6.
* Have reading time for Ch. 7.
Homework -
* Read Ch. 7 for Monday.
* Have a final draft of theme #4.
