Monday -
No class. Teacher Inservice.
Tuesday -
Learning Target - When students leave my room, they will have finished benchmarking to find their strengths and weaknesses as readers and to find their reading levels. Students will continue to work on the reading skills of main idea, context, sequence, facts, and conclusion. Students will also be introduced to Collection #1 and "Once Upon a Time."
Classroom Activities - Work on benchmark testing and reading skills.
Homework - None.
Evidence of Learning - Students reading levels will be shared by Kelsey Johnson. Students will submit practice work on main idea, context, sequence, facts, and conclusion.
Wednesday - LINC -
Learning Target - When students leave my room, they will be able to analyze Gordimer's choices concerning text structure; determine and support inferences about the theme; and cite text evidence to support analysis of the text.
Classroom Activities - Introduce the concept of theme and text structure through several easy to understand examples. Students will read "Once Upon a Time" in their Collections text book.
Homework - None
Evidence of Learning - Students will answer questions during reading and submit them when done.
Thursday -
Learning Target - When students leave my room, they will be able to analyze Gordimer's choices concerning text structure; determine and support inferences about the theme; and cite text evidence to support analysis of the text.

Friday -
Learning Target - When students leave my room, they will have selected a free reading book from the media center appropriate for their reading level (using the bench marking process they went through) and begin reading it. Students will evaluate their books by writing a short summary of each chapter (or key events), keeping a character(s) list, and analyzing the theme using text examples.
Classroom Activities - Mrs. Johnson will visit us with several book examples. If none of those work, we will go down to the media center to find a book.
Homework - Free read their books.
Evidence of Learning - Students will provide reading checks to illustrate their chapter summaries (or key events), character(s) list, and discussion of themes.
