Week 9 - October 27-31
Monday (10.27)
Learning Target:
When students leave for the day, they will have watched Crash on their laptops and turned in their APA analysis of Inception. Students will then apply Johnson's theory of multiple plot threads to three characters in Crash.
Classroom Tasks:
Students will watch the film individually on their laptops and take notes as they track three characters and how they "Crash" together.
Homework:
Isolate three characters to track and analyze.
Evidence of Learning:
Discussion to open the class on Tuesday. Their APA paper too will illustrate their understanding of the film and Johnson's theory of multiple plot threads.
Tuesday (10.28)
Learning Target:
When students leave for the day, they will have watched Crash on their laptops. Students will then apply Johnson's theory of multiple plot threads to three characters in Crash.
Classroom Tasks:
We will watch the film a second time and discuss multiple plot threads.
Homework:
Work on analysis of plot threads for their second APA paper.
Evidence:
Discussion to open class on Wednesday. Their APA paper will illustrate their understanding of the film and Johnson's theory of multiple plot threads.
Wednesday (10.29)
Learning Target:
When students leave for the day, they will have constructed a rough draft of their second APA essay on the multiple plot threads in Crash.
Classroom tasks:
Craft the APA essay in class. Return their Inception APA essays.
Homework:
Crash essay will be due on Friday.
Evidence of Learning:
Discussion of film and essay as well as their Crash APA essay.
Thursday (10.30)
Learning Target:
When students leave for the day, they will have worked on their drafts of their Crash APA essay. They will also be introduced to Steal Like an Artist.
Classroom tasks:
Introduction to Steal Like an Artist. Watch videos on blog and leave commentaries.
Homework:
Finish the videos on the blog and add commentaries. Finish their Crash APA essay for Friday. Make sure all other essays they want to revise are done.
Evidence of Learning:
Discussion on videos (both in class and through commentary on blog). Their final Crash APA essay.
Friday (10.31)
Learning Target:
When students leave for the day, they will have explored the concept of how everything is a remix and will have begun reading Steal Like an Artist. They will have an understanding of how to teach the chapters to the rest of the class, starting on Tuesday.
Classroom tasks:
Begin reading Steal Like an Artist. Discussion of creativity and discovery.
Homework:
Read Steal Like an Artist and choose a chapter to teach to the class beginning on Tuesday of next week.
Evidence of Learning:
Padlet discussion (I will share a Padlet with them asking them to note two key take aways from the book and one example from youtube to the web regarding their chapter). Lesson presentations next week will also show what they have learned.
