Learning Target:
When students leave my classroom, they will have discussed the concept of a "millennial" and examine thoughts from different generations. Students will seek to come up with their own definition of the word.
Classroom Tasks:
Watch the video "Grown Up Digital" and apply it to the millennial generation.
Homework:
Devise a working definition of "millennial." Survey other people to define "millennial."
Evidence:
Discussion of "millennial." Discussion of "Grown Up Digital." And examine survey results tomorrow. Have a rough draft defining "millennial."
Tuesday (10.7)
Learning Target:
When students leave for the day, they will have examined defining the word "love."
Classroom Tasks:
Examine ee cummings' "Since Feeling is First" vs "Laboratory Poem."
Contrast each poem and analyze the differences.
Homework:
Have a short draft defining "love."
Evidence:
Discussion of "love" and classroom participation. Examine rough draft of "millennial."
Wednesday (10.8)
Learning Target:
When students leave for the day, they will have examined three difference concepts (beauty, millennial, and love) through personal definitions. Students will select one of those or another term to write a definition essay on.
Classroom tasks:
Work time on definition essay, due Friday.
Homework:
Final draft of definition essay, due Friday.
Evidence of Learning:
Definition drafts and work on final essay, due Friday.
Thursday (10.9)
Learning Target:
When students leave for the day, they will have been introduced to APA format. And worked on writing a short summary using APA format.
Classroom tasks:
Students will draw a name from a hat and then search, summarize, and cite in proper APA format the term.
Homework:
Finish personal definition essay. Begin examining topics for the allusion essay.
Evidence of Learning:
Individual discussion and drafts.
Friday (10.10)
Learning Target:
When students leave for the day, they will have selected a topic for the allusion essay. Students will have submitted the final draft of their definition essay. Students will also have been introduced to APA format.
Classroom tasks:
Select a topic for their allusion assignment and do a classroom share assignment to address various ideas and aspects of the topic.
Work time to draft the allusion paper.
Homework:
No homework for Monday.
Evidence of Learning:
Final draft of definition essay and paper topic selected and fleshed out for Monday.
