Tuesday
Learning Target - Students will review the literary theories of Formalism and Gender Theory. Students will be introduced via Keynote to the other types of literary theories.
Classroom Activities - Introduction to Lit Theory via Keynote presentation.
Homework - Students will analyze the short story "Doe Season" for Gender Theory through discussion and a short essay quiz.
Learning Target - Students will illustrate their understanding of Gender Theory on the short essay quiz and through discussion of lit theories during the presentation.
Wednesday - LINC
Learning Target - Students will continue to be introduced to literary theories via Keynote.
Classroom Activities - Continue to take notes on literary theories.
Homework - Read "A Rose for Emily" and complete reading guide.
Learning Target - Students will illustrate their understanding of Gender Theory, Formalism, Archetypal, and Historicism through analyzing "A Rose for Emily" from these different perspectives.
Thursday
Learning Target - Students will share their analysis of "A Rose for Emily" and their analysis of the story through specific literary theories through discussion and a short analytical prompt.
Classroom Activities - "A Rose for Emily" quiz, discussion, and analytical prompt.
Homework - Students will read "Like a Winding Sheet" and complete the reader response starters for Friday.
Learning Target - Students will illustrate their understanding of race and psychological theory on the short essay quiz and through discussion of lit theories during the presentation.
Friday
Learning Target - Students will be introduced to "The Yellow Wallpaper" through notes. Then students will read the story and analyze it via reader response starters.
Classroom Activities - Free reading of "The Yellow Wallpaper."
Homework - Read "The Yellow Wallpaper" and begin listening to it on Monday.
Learning Target - Students will illustrate their understanding of how psychological, Gender Theory, formalism, and Historicism can be used to analyze "The Yellow Wallpaper." On Monday we will listen to the story and analyze it. Students will note all the things they missed related to their literary theory as they read it a second time and discuss it in depth and practice close reading strategies.
