Week 13 - November 28-December 2
Monday
Learning Target - Students will be introduced to the braided essay (write about a passion or happiness). Students will write four separate essay related to either their passion or happiness (a descriptive, best moment narrative, a personal history, a how to, a best moment narrative, and a research based essay).
Classroom Activities - Students will have class time to conference with me individually and to look at examples of braided essays.
Homework - Students will select a topic and have a rough draft of their descriptive essay
Evidence of Learning - Students will share their drafts with me to check on Tuesday.
Tuesday
Learning Target - Students will continue to be introduced to the braided essay concept. Students will get feedback on how to make their best moment descriptive narrative longer and more developed. Students will also be given ideas on how to write their personal history related to their topic.
Classroom Activities - Students will have class time to conference with me individually and to look at examples of braided essays and to work on their personal history.
Homework - Students will finish a rough draft of their personal history.
Evidence of Learning - Students will share their draft of their personal history with me to check on Wednesday.
Wednesday - LINC
Learning Target - Students will be given feedback on their personal history, specifically how to make it longer. Students will also be introduced to the how to essay.
Classroom Activities - Students will have class time to conference with me regarding their personal histories as well as their up coming how to.
Homework - Students will finish a rough draft of their how to.
Evidence of Learning - Students will share their draft of their how to with me to check on Thursday.
Thursday -
Learning Target - Students will be given feedback on their how to, specifically how to make it longer. Students will also be introduced to the brief research essay.
Classroom Activities - Students will have class time to conference with me regarding their how to as well as their up coming research essay, namely how to find a source (or sources) that relates to their topic and then how to use that in their essay and how to cite it properly.
Homework - Students will finish a rough draft of their research.
Evidence of Learning - Students will share their draft of their research to with me to check on Monday.
Friday -
Learning Target - Students will begin reading their first novel for their final paper. Students will complete reader response starters on their first reading.
Classroom Activities - Free reading day.
Homework - Continue reading their novel and have a rough draft of their braided essay.
Evidence of Learning - Students will share with me their reader response starters and opinions of their first reading. Students will submit a final draft of their braided essay on Wednesday.
