Monday - March 13
Learning Target - Students will be introduced to the short story "The Lottery" and discuss the theme of traditions. Students will analyze how the black box works as a symbol in the story and what the theme is. Students will support their interpretations of the story with textual evidence on their reading guide.
Classroom Activities - Students will read "The Lottery" and answer the guided reflective questions.
Homework - None.

Students will analyze how Miss Emily works as a symbol in the story and what the theme is. Students will support their interpretations of the story with textual evidence on their reading guide.
Classroom Activities - Students will first analyze the piece "Body Rituals of the Nacerima" as an exercise in perspective. Then students will read "A Rose for Emily" and answer the guided reflective questions.
