Week #4 - fourth quarter
Monday (4.20)
Learning Target:
When I leave Mr. Reynolds' room, I will have taken a quiz on "The Yellow Wallpaper" and listened to an audio version of the story. On our second time through the story, we will analyze all that was missed on the initial reading. I will have answered one specific question related to the story.
Classroom Tasks:
Listen to an audio version of "The Yellow Wallpaper" and discuss it. Students will print out and submit their persuasive essay before the end of the period too.
Homework:
None.
Evidence:
Discussion of "The Yellow Wallpaper." Take a quiz on it and students will answer one specific question related to the story. Students will also submit their reader response starters for the story.
Tuesday (4.21)
Learning Target:
When I leave Mr. Reynolds' room, I will have been introduced to our literary analysis theme, been introduced to "Young Goodman Brown" and then begin reading it in class.
Classroom Tasks:
Lecture on the literary analysis theme and background info to "Young Goodman Brown." Students will take notes and answer questions as part of the lecture. Students will have class time to begin reading the story.
Homework:
Finish reading "Young Goodman Brown" and complete guide.
Evidence:
Observe students taking notes and asking pertinent questions. Quiz on "YGB" on Wednesday.
Wednesday (4.22)
Learning Target:
When I leave Mr. Reynolds' room, I will read "YGB" and taken a quiz on it. I will have taken notes on our initial discussion of the story. Then I will have listened to it again in class and taken notes on my theme.
Classroom Tasks:
Quiz. Discussion. Then we will listen to the story again. This time students will choose one theme and find three examples of it the theme in the story. Their examples must be in three of these four areas: plot, character, setting, or symbolism.
Homework:
Devise a thesis statement and one supporting paragraph for the literary analysis theme.
Evidence:
Quiz and discussion while we listen to the story.
Thursday (4.23)
Learning Target:
When I leave Mr. Reynolds' room, I will have used class time to develop my rough draft of my literary theme on "YGB."
Classroom Tasks:
Work on literary analysis.
Homework:
Devise a rough draft of the literary analysis. We will proof read it and peer edit it in class on Friday.
Evidence:
I will observe students working on their drafts as well as comment on their thesis statements and supporting paragraphs.
Friday (4.24)
Learning Target:
When I leave Mr. Reynolds' room, I will have had time to work on my literary analysis theme or free read my second novel for the MGRLP. We will also peer edit rough drafts of the lit analysis.
Classroom Tasks:
Work time on. Hand out Training Day permission slips. We will begin watching this next week.
Homework:
Finish lit analysis for Monday.
Evidence:
Students will have their lit analysis done by Monday.
