When students leave my classroom, they will have taken their final test on The Ghost Map.
Classroom Tasks:
Students will take their final test on The Ghost Map.
Homework:
Students will read the first chapter of The Element.
Evidence:
Students will take their final test on The Ghost Map and begin reading The Element and complete a guide for Ch. 1.
Wednesday (2.18)
Learning Target:
When students leave my classroom, they will have read Ch. 1 of The Element and discussed finding a passion and how school kills creativity. Students will also begin writing 3.1 (how to improve LHS).
Classroom Tasks:
Quiz on Ch. 1. Students will share their take aways from Ch. 1. Students will watch Ken Robinson's TED Talk, How Schools Kill Creativity and Caine's Arcade. Students, through discussion and completion of "Ten Things Teachers Should Unlearn" will examine how to improve LHS.
Homework:
Read Ch. 2 and 3 of The Element.
Evidence:
Discussion and turn in their guides for Ch. 1.
Thursday (2.19)
Learning Target:
When students leave my classroom, they will have submitted draft 3.1 (how to improve LHS). They will have discussed Ch. 2 and 3.
Classroom Tasks:
Quiz on Ch. 2 and 3. Students will discuss the chapters and review 3.1 (how to improve LHS). Look at 3.2 (how to survive college).
Homework:
Students will read CH. 4 and 5 of The Element and complete discussion starters for Friday.
Evidence:
Quiz. Students will discuss, turn in 3.1 draft, and complete discussion starters.
Friday (2.20)
Learning Target:
When students leave my classroom, they will have discussed - in depth - how to survive college. Students will look at advice and suggestions from past College Comp and current college students. Will watch the video "I'm a College Freshman."
Classroom Tasks:
Students will analyze how to survive college and look at Ch. 4 and 5 of The Element.
Homework:
Read Ch. 6 and 7 and watch the TED Ed "How to Find Your Life's Purpose." 3.2 draft due on Monday.
Evidence:
Discussion of Ch. 4 and 5. Students will have 3.2 due on Monday. There will be a quiz on Ch. 6 and 7 on Monday.
