Tuesday - April 3
Learning Target - Students will be introduced to the themes and ideas of Ernest Hemingway's "The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber."
Classroom Activities - Begin reading the short story aloud. Students will place Sticky-Notes next to elements of plot, theme, and author's craft as we read.
Evidence of Learning - Students will answer questions aloud as we read, take end of the section quizzes, as well as submit their stories with the Stickies in them and write a persuasive paragraph concerning the ending.
Wednesday - April 4
Learning Target - Students will continue reading Ernest Hemingway's "The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber."

Learning Target - Students will finish Ernest Hemingway's "The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber." Students will illustrate their understanding of the story by taking an end of the story quiz.

Learning Target - Students will analyze a short story for plot, author's craft, and irony.
Classroom Activities - Students will read "Ruthless" and complete the story guide and do a create a quiz based on the short story. Then they can do one of the creative short story assignments.

Evidence of Learning - Students will answer questions related to the key themes and ideas of "Ruthless" in class.
