Evidence of Learning:
End of class discussion. Annotated examples from the text. Padelt assignment.
Tuesday (10.21)
Learning Target:
When students leave for the day, they will have applied the concept of multi thread narratives to popular examples from their lives. Students will also examine a film (Inception) for multi-threaded narrative complexity.
Classroom Tasks:
Students will begin watching Inception and track how plot threads intertwine in the film.
Homework:
Work on analysis of plot threads.
Evidence:
Class discussion (answer these questions - how many plot levels are used in the film? How is the author trying to confuse the viewer? Why would anyone pay to have such a mental burden thrust upon them?)
Wednesday (10.22)
Learning Target:

Homework:
Complete plot thread analysis.
Evidence of Learning:
Discussion of film. Draft of plot thread analysis.
Thursday (10.23)
Learning Target:
When students leave for the day, they will have finished part of Crash. They will also begin analyzing it for plot complexity, specifically how three characters intersect and "crash" together.
Classroom tasks:
Begin watching Crash. Begin analyzing it for how characters and plot threads intersect.
Homework:
Analyze how three sets of characters intersect and "crash" together.
Evidence of Learning:
Discussion of film (answer these questions - Which characters are you focusing on? What evidence is being withheld (intentionally) from the audience? What is the effect of this? How does the director make use of foreshadow and incidental appearances by characters?). Draft of plot thread analysis.
Friday (10.24)

Classroom tasks:
Finish Crash. Wrap up discussion. Have an analysis of plot threads completed for tomorrow.
