Isaiah 6

NOTE: Seraphim is ᏚᏂᏓᏪᎳᎩᏍᎩ ᎠᎾᎵᏍᏕᎵᏍᎩ.

The word ᎠᏂᏏᎳᏈ that one often sees in the various copies of scripture translations is the Plural of ᏏᎳᏈ which is NOT a word in Cherokee at all. It is a word that has been transliterated from the way Seraphim would sound if you said it replacing it with Cherokee symbols instead.

The meaning of the Hebrew word Seraphim is literally to burn with fire and has often been interchangeable with the word Phoenix in various texts.

It appears that the Seraphim, who are known in our culture as handsome human-like angelic creatures, were known to the Hebrews as snake-like (or dragon like) fireballs.

This makes sense because in this vision, Isaiah sees these beings take live (hot) burning coals from the altar.

Psalm 104:4 and Hebrews 1:7 appear to be describing the Seraphim when they state:

He makes the winds his messengers, blazing fires his servants.

In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.
