EQUAL ACCESS TOUR CONFIRMATION
These tours are led by volunteers. Some of our volunteers drive over an hour to get to Año Nuevo State Park. In the event that your party cannot make this tour, please call and email us at least three hours ahead of time.
Hello from Año Nuevo State Park!
We are pleased that you will be joining us for a special guided tour at Año Nuevo State Park! The Park is located 20 miles north of Santa Cruz and 30 miles south of Half Moon Bay on Highway 1. The following information and suggestions are provided in order to help you prepare for an enjoyable visit:
Our Equal Access vehicle only accommodates ticketed guests. Do not bring extra people.
Be on time. Your tour will depart promptly from the parking lot at the Walk Start Time. Allow time for traffic, bad weather, etc. on the drive here. Also, allow extra time before your tour time to check-in, use the facilities and get your group organized.
Day-use parking is $10, $9 for seniors, or $5 with a valid CA Disability placard.
When you drive into the park, please let the Kiosk staff know the name on the reservation and that you are here for an Equal Access Tour.
To check-in for your tour, have one representative from your party present this confirmation letter at the Marine Education Center (just below the parking lot) before your reservation time. You will meet your docents at the south end of the parking lot. Look for a State Parks large, white van.
Snacks and water bottles are allowed on the tour, but picnicking will not be an option until after the tour is completed. Food is not available for purchase here in the park.
Smoking is not allowed during any part of the tour.
The tour is up to two hours long; this includes driving time to and from the trailhead. The accessible boardwalk to the seal viewing area is .2-mile long. The weather at Año Nuevo can be cold, wet, and windy. We advise that you dress warmly, and in layers. Bring rain gear, sunscreen, and a hat.
We also recommend that you bring a camera and binoculars to add to the pleasure of your tour.
Restrooms are available in the parking lot (flush toilets) and at the trailhead (pit toilets).
The intent of this program is to provide individuals in need of mobility assistance with greater access to the Preserve. If your group cannot make this tour, or you are running late for your tour, please contact the park at 650-879-2025 as soon as possible.
BRING THIS CONFIRMATION LETTER WITH YOU—IT IS YOUR TICKET!
Thanks for choosing Año Nuevo State Park. We look forward to meeting you!
