We’re excited to share that California Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) has made recent improvements to your reservation experience on August 1, 2024.
These changes are part of our ongoing commitment to enhance your park experience, ensure easier access, and support conservation efforts.
Recent changes:
Simplified Parking: We’ve introduced a new, user-friendly parking system that doesn't require app downloads or account creation. In many of our self-service Parking lots, you will be able to simply scan a QR code or send a text to pay for parking online.
Small Fee Adjustments: To support ongoing park maintenance and conservation efforts, there will be slight adjustments to some transaction fees. These changes will help us continue to preserve and improve our beautiful parks for future generations.
These improvements are just the beginning. We're continuously working to make your visits more enjoyable and convenient while preserving the natural beauty of our parks.
A: The fee increase, the first since 2017, will help support ongoing Hearst Castle maintenance, conservation efforts, and to continue bringing innovative solutions to the parks, the Hearst Castle Tour ticket costs have slightly increased. These changes will help us continue to preserve and improve the Hearst Castle experience for future generations.
We’re happy to share that we’ve removed all Hearst Castle modification and cancellation fees to continue improving your visit.

A. We decided to decrease the tour reservation fees for all tours on ReserveCalifornia, other than Hearst Castle, from $3.99 to $2.50, to offer more value and affordability to our Park visitors. This reduction is part of our ongoing effort to improve accessibility and encourage participation in our tours.
A. Yes, the new transaction fees are effective for all reservations, regardless of the original reservation date, starting August 1st. If you need to modify or cancel your camping reservation, please know that you will be charge a $8.25 fee.
A. Yes, we can still process a refund for your camping reservation as long as the refund request complies with our Park’s policies. If so, you will be refunded the cost of your camping reservation minus the non-refundable reservation fee of $8.25 and the cancellation fee of $8.25.

LAZ Parking offers a more simplified parking experience for Park staff and visitors alike. With LAZ Parking, you are no longer required to download a mobile app or create an account to pay for parking, allowing you to spend less time parking and more time enjoying our beautiful parks.
Looking ahead, as we are always looking for ways to enhance your Park experience, our partnership with LAZ Parking will pave the way for us to introduce more exciting and innovative enhancements to your parking experience.
A: LAZgo provides visitors with convenient cashless parking that is as easy as snapping a QR Code or sending a text. There’s no app to download, no reservation needed or account set-up required. And no pay station!
1. Simply snap the QR code or text the code on the sign.
2. Choose your stay; then, confirm the time and price.
3. Enter your vehicle license plate number, and pay using Apple Pay, Google Pay or credit card. That’s it!
A: Yes, LAZ Parking will charge a $0.55 parking transaction fee. This fee will be automatically included in your total parking cost and used to cover parking maintenance costs needed by the Park units.
A: Apple Pay, Google Pay or credit card are accepted.
A: While paying for parking, you are required to enter your vehicle license plate. Your license plate will function as your parking pass for enforcement purposes. You will also receive a confirmation email that contains details about your parking session. If asked, you can show this confirmation email as proof.
A: Your confirmation email will function as your payment receipt, as it has all the necessary purchase information.
A: CA State Parks has a ‘No Refunds’ policy at this time. Please refer to the customer service email located on your parking pass for any further inquiries.
A: This is a hold that is required for us to offer you the option to ‘extend’ your parking time. When the parking transaction is finalized, the amount on your credit card will be updated to match the transaction value on your receipt.
A: You will receive a text 30 minutes prior to your transaction ending. This will allow you to access your transaction and update your time if needed.
A: Please navigate to https://go.lazparking.com/lookup to reference your transaction, and update the plate on your pass.
A: Please re-enter your address, zipcode, or card information, as the information you’ve entered into the LAZGo site may be incorrect.
If you’ve paid using Google or Apple Pay and you have not received an email confirmation, please double check the email attached to your mobile wallet matches the email address you are searching in.
A: The location information will be detailed on your parking pass. Please refer to posted signage for any additional information.
