Buying a Pass in ReserveCalifornia (Visitor View)

This job aid explores updates to the Buy Passes Page in ReserveCaliforniaTM, effective October 2025. It provides key information to help you understand how visitors will experience the Buy Passes page after navigating to the Passes menu option.

Whether a visitor wants to purchase an additional pass or they want to purchase a new one for the first time, they will need to visit the Buy Passes page in ReserveCaliforniaTM. To navigate to the Buy Passes page, they can visit ReserveCalifornia.com and click on the Passes option from the menu bar at the top of the page.

A ReserveCaliforniaTM account is required to access the Buy Passes page, so the visitor will be prompted to log in or sign up for an account after clicking the Passes button.

After logging in or signing up, if the visitor does not currently own any passes, they will see the updated Buy Passes page below. Here, they can either apply for one of the passes listed in the teal message box by clicking the Apply Now button, or they can continue purchasing a different pass by confirming the name of the passholder in the Select Passholder’s Name drop-down menu and selecting a pass from the Select Pass drop-down menu.

After selecting which pass they would like to purchase, the visitor will continue entering the required information for the selected pass. The following updated fields may be listed depending on individual pass information requirements:

1. Select Passholder's Name (existing field with updated name)

2. Select Pass (existing field with updated values): Visitor can select which pass they would like to purchase from this drop-down menu.

3. Pass Information (new): Visitors can view a description of the pass.

4. Effective Date (newly editable): Visitors can select the first date that they would like the pass to be active.

5. Last 6 of ID (existing): Visitors will need to enter the last 6 digits of their driver’s license or identification card in this field.

6. Vehicle Information (existing fields with updated functionality): If a vehicle is already tied to a Visitor Profile, visitors will have the option to select pre-filled vehicle data and if additional information is needed (e.g., license plate), visitors will be prompted to provide these values in the Add Vehicle pop-up window. Otherwise, visitors will be able to add new vehicle data here. If no vehicle information is needed for a pass, this field will not display.

After all required information has been entered, the visitor can click Add this Pass to continue to the next step.
