Hike and Bike Campsite Reservations
The Hike and Bike campsite program provides affordable camping options for visitors who arrive at California State Parks without motorized vehicles. These designated sites accommodate cyclists, hikers, and other non-motorized travelers at reduced rates with specific occupancy and stay requirements.
These aren't for regular car campers who want a cheaper option. They're specifically for people on multi-day hiking/biking trips who need a place to sleep between travel days and arrived under their own power (not by car).
Bicycles (including e-bikes under 750 watts)
Walking/Hiking on foot
Canoes, kayaks, paddleboards
Drop-off by others (customer must remain without vehicle access)
Personal motor vehicles (cars, motorcycles, RVs)
Motorized scooters over 750 watts
ATVs or other off-road vehicles
Shall be determined by the District Superintendent based on size, amenities provided, and safety
Maximum 2 consecutive nights at same park
Maximum 10 nights total per calendar year across all state parks
All H&B areas must meet accessibility standards
Prioritize accessible sites for customers with disabilities
People with disabilities who use motorized mobility devices (like electric wheelchairs or scooters) for primary locomotion can use Hike and Bike campsites
Condition: The OPDMD must be permitted on the routes/trails used to access the Hike and Bike campsite
This is an exception to the "no motorized vehicles" rule
When H&B sites include amenities (picnic tables, fire rings, water spigots, etc.), accessible sites must have accessibly designed versions of these features
