Embankment Fill along State Trail RouteWyeth State Recreation Area. Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area. Oregon. April 26, 2013

Above, this could be where the HCRH ran through this section, it could be the wagon road, it could be a flood and slide control measure constructed along with I-84, or maybe someone was trying to make a reservoir... According to ODOT's 2011 trail plan, "The history of the embankment is not known at this time."

It looks a bit like some of the embankments built further east to protect I-84 from flood and slide damage, however the size of the trees in the photo above suggests that this fill is much older.

Above, the size of the trees growing on this make me doubt that it was part of the CRH.

I need to verify the location of these, but I think they were by the markers in the earlier photo.
