Bridal Veil Post Office
Kimmy Hayes, How to Send Your Wedding Invitations from Bridal Veil Oregon
When the first post office opened around 1886 and a small railroad station was put in, the community was officially named Bridal Veil.

The original 1800s post office was relocated in the 1930s into a tiny 10×14 building that was once a tool shed for the mill. At its size, it is the second smallest free-standing post office in the US. Its closet-sized three customers at a time lobby has 60 post office boxes and a tiny service window. The beautiful Colombia River can be seen behind the post office. Every so often, the federal government tries to close this office down, but the public’s protests continue to keep it open and operating. For many years now, the wedding industry and brides wanting to be a part of a great historical tradition, have kept this little town going long after the logging industry abandoned it.

The Bridal Veil post office may be small, but their service is the best I’ve experienced at any post office. They helped me in every way and their delivery was super quick. Much faster than when I mail things out from Portland. We mailed out all of our invitations on Saturday afternoon and by Monday everyone had received them. Even those in California, Texas, and Maryland!

The woman at the counter stressed that they very much appreciated all of the brides purchasing their postage from the Bridal Veil post office since it was the revenue from those stamps that kept them open.

Joel Christie, Brides-to-be from all over the world flocking to a tiny Oregon post office to send their wedding invitations because of its unique name...
It's the third-smallest post office in America - actually, its an old tool shed that can only hold three customers at a time - but it works around-the-clock stamping and sending envelopes from all over the world.
Why?
Because this tiny 110 square feet shack is in a town called Bridal Veil, and in the interest of planning the perfect wedding, detail is everything.
For that reason, brides all across America - and from as far as Korea and Australia - are flocking to the Oregon municipality just to be able to have 'Bridal Veil' as the postage stamp on their wedding invitations.
...
Every year, over 190,000 pieces of bridal mail pass through the Bridal Veil post office each year, according to NBC Nightly News.
And every single one of them is stamped by the postmaster, Tara Stiller, a former wedding planner.

I didn't realize it at the time, but around the time I first put this page together, Kimmy Hayes was killed in a car accident on the way home from Multnomah Falls. Today, rebuilding this page, I checked in on the AfterGlobe Facebook page to see what this couple was up to these days (noticing the blog entries stopped in 2014).
Sad news, and belated prayers for all.
