I am not sure about the name or, really, any history of this place. It first came to my attention when I noticed it on an aerial photo hanging in the Vista House. Mershon writes, "A small stand (later a gift shop) was located on the left [side of the highway]." (East of the Sandy III, 38) For a long time, I'd misread that passage to think he was referring to the left side of Johnson's Vista Café, but I now believe he meant the left side of the highway. Also, I am not sure if Mershon meant to imply that it was run by the Johnson family or not.

From folks who remember it, I've heard that it was possibly an ice cream stand, a post card shop, or a gift shop. Maybe all three, or all three at different times. More research is required.

"I'm pretty sure I used to get ice cream there in the 50's. Not positive, but that's my memory."
