"Angel's Rest is easy to distinguish from the Columbia River Highway as its appearance resembles that of a fort protruding from timber -covered ridges at the 1,600 foot level above the town of Bridal Veil. ... The mesa is high enough to permit a good view of Portland and Vancouver, but the terrain to the south is obscured by the rim of the Gorge which rises somewhat higher than Angels Rest itself."
