"7994 shows a small tunnel between the HCRH and Railroad. Unsure of the purpose, but looks to be around where the Interstate tunnel is now so it is probably long gone."

Jamen Lee, Park Ranger - Oregon State Parks, HCRH State Trail. Email. September 29, 2015

"The small tunnel that you referenced is probably the pilot tunnel for Toothrock Tunnel. It is in the correct location."

Robert Hadlow, Senior Historian, ODOT. Email. September 29, 2015

"This photograph [above] was taken from the east end of the Tooth Rock Tunnel on U.S. Highway 30, the Columbia River Highway in Multnomah County. This photograph shows the stone arch at the entrance of the tunnel and looks down the highway toward the Eagle Creek Bridge and a railroad bridge. Forested hills line both sides of the highway."
