One fun activity Maxine enjoyed on a hot day was water fights. When she wasn't in the kitchen, anybody outside was at risk. John Thomas found that out one day when he was out in the front yard with Hank. That was sufficient excuse for Maxine to attack him with a hose. John wasn't a fool, though.....he quickly ran into the house, which seemed a safe refute to Maxine's vicious sense of fun.
John wasn't nearly as safe as he had assumed, though. It wasn't long before Maxine came charging into the living room, dragging the hose behind her. Yep.......John got soaked again!!!

A related story is told by a close friend about a party Mom hosted for the sisters in the Relief Society. Unfortunately, it turned out to be rather placid (dull may be a better word for it) and lacking the fun that Mom enjoyed. That didn't set well her, as Mom was known to put on fun dinner parties.
Her solution...Mom brought the hose in from the yard and started a water fight in the house!!!
